Sorry if this is a known issue but I didn't come across it. Trying to upload a show which I haven't done for quite a while and after I enter the info to create the identifier on the Upload page and click Share My File(s) I get a dialog box saying "Please wait for the identifier assignment to finish". Which is fine, but I've been waiting 3 days now so I'm thinking something may be wrong, in the past it never took more than a few seconds. Only using vanilla characters and numbers, and I verified the identifier doesn't exist already. Thanks in advance for any help.

I tried with Chrome and IE9 on 2 different Windows 7 machines, same situation regardless.

I came up with a workaround, which works for me on Firefox in 10.8.2. Haven't tested on other browsers/OSes

1) Go to http://archive.org/create.php
2) Click "Classic uploader" and select your files.
3) Wait for your files to finish uploading.
4) Enter something in the "Title" field (doesn't matter what) and then click into any other field.
5) Click the "Click here if this is a recording for Live Music Archive" link. This is a toggle that switches the rest of the form to the usual three-blank LMA form.
6) Put in whatever you want in the fields. This should then induce the spinner again, which will tell you if the desired identifier is free.
7) Click "Share my File(s)" and continue as normal.

Hope this works for you. I'll bump this up to the proper authorities to see if they can fix it.

It appears the problem persists, I am unable to create the Identifier for the last couple of days.

Any update on a fix?

Will try the work around ...

Thanks
